A new year brings new cinematic experiences. Here is a preliminary list films expected to hit the big screen this year.

February 

Lego movie (Feb. 7) – The film adapted from the greatest building material Rated PG.

Monuments Men (Feb. 7) – A team of art enthusiasts attempt to steal art from the Nazis.

Robocop (Feb. 12) – The remake of the 80s action film where man and machine combine as one to fight crime. Rated PG-13.

Pompeii (Feb. 21) – The portrayal of the Italian’s city final hours before a volcano erupts.

March 

300: Rise of an Empire (Mar. 7) – The prequel to Zack Snyder’s successful Roman war movie. Rated R.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman (Mar. 7) – The animated film based from the 1950s and 1960s animations.

Need for Speed (Mar. 14) – A driving action film starring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul.

Divergent (Mar. 14) – Yet another dystopian society movie and the adolescents who try to change it.

Noah (Mar. 8) – The telling of a man who must build a ship to survive an apocalyptic flood.

April 

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Apr. 4) – The sequel to the first captain America film that follows the events of the Avengers.

Transcendence (Apr. 18) – Johnny Depp’s next film talking about technology and human interaction.

May 

Amazing Spider-Man 2 (May 2) – The much-anticipated sequel to the franchise reboot, spider man must battle several villains, while living the life of a high school teenage.

Godzilla (May 16) – When an enormous lizard-like creature wrecks havoc on earth, mankind must work together to defend the earth.

Million Dollar Arm (May 16) – A man travels to India, recruiting cricket players as pitchers for American baseball. Rated PG.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 23) – Wolverine must travel back in time to help Professor X and his X-Men to change the future.

Maleficent (May 30) – The story of Sleeping Beauty, told from the perspective of the sorceress.

June 

The Fault in Our Stars (June 6) – The movie adaptation based on the best selling novel by John Green about a girl with cancer who meets the guy of her dreams.

22 Jump Street (June 13) – After busting drugs in a high school, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum take their skills to college.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (June 13) – Hiccup learns more about dragons and their interactions with humans.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (June 27) – The fourth installment of Michael Bay’s robotic action films.

July 

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (July 11) – After fighting a disease, the surviving humans must fight against the superior species, apes.

Jupiter Ascending (July 18) – A sci-fi action flick starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.

August 

Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1) – Marvel’s movie based off the comic book characters that team up and fight in space.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (August 8) – Michael Bay’s production of the ninja turtles.

September 

Maze Runner (September 19) – The film adaptation of the popular book by James Dashner.

October 

Paranormal Activity 5 (October 24) – The sixth installment of the horror thriller and the fifth in the Paranormal Activity series.

November 

Dumb and Dumber To (November 14) – The much awaited sequel to the Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels comedy success.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (November 21) – The first part in the final installment of The Hunger Games series.

December 

The Hobbit: There and Back Again (December 17) – The third and final film in the Hobbit films trilogy.
