The Classics

Classics have stood the test of time, for one reason or another. People continue to turn to them time and again. Classics come in the form of books, music, and people who have influenced and continue to influence our world.

Some of our most beloved literature classics are Pride and Prejudice, The Count of Monte Cristo, To Kill a Mockingbird, Little Women, and the Scarlet Letter. We classify these as timeless classics, because modern authors continue to turn them for inspiration. They write books that you’ve read three times already, and the fourth time still makes you cry, and laugh, and you love the characters just like you did the first time around.

However, this love doesn’t stop with books; it bleeds into everything we do. The fact that when you’re listening to the radio, singing every word to a song you haven’t heard in ages establishes our belief that these songs will live on. These songs make you feel alive and nostalgic all at once, songs like; “Jail House Rock”, “Some Where Over the Rainbow”, “Hit Me Baby One More Time”, and “Raise Your Glass”.

The people from history that shaped the entertainment world are an excellent example of classics, people like Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Elvis Presley, and any James Bond ever. What makes these icons iconic? Is it how Audrey Hepburn is so glamorous, or the way that James Bond is dangerous and smooth, and somehow always super spy’s his way out of near death situations? These people and the characters that they portray are the scale to which every other actress or singer is measured.

These things built our society; they created art, music, and worlds where we can still escape. Things that take us to another time and place; they remind us of where we’ve come from and how much we are all capable of.
