Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a movie based off one of JK Rowling’s books. It is set in the same world as her Harry Potter series except it is based in America in the 1920s.

The movie centralizes around a British man, Newt Scamander, who visits New York City on his quest to find, rescue and document extraordinary magical creatures. On the way, he meets Jacob, a No-Maj (American for Muggle), who accidentally misplaces Newt’s briefcase full of magical creatures. Some creatures escape and Newt, with the help of Jacob and two Witches—Porpentina and Queenie Goldstein—has to rescue them before the Ministry arrests them. Not only that but a strange power is killing people in New York, and it is their mission to stop it.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a must-see movie to those who love JK Rowling’s work. The movie is an extraordinary array of great graphics and an even greater plot. The actors that were chose for their roles did not disappoint and brought an element of humor to an otherwise sort of sad movie. Rotten Tomatoes says this about the movie: “It is always a pleasure to return to this universe full of wonders and fantastic beings conceived by J. K. Rowling, who dazzles us once again with her usual astonishing imagination and a delightful adventure that also works as another intelligent allegory about prejudice and acceptance.” I agree with this statement, Fantastic Beasts is a great movie and have been getting the wonderful reviews it deserves.

Peter Debruge, chief film critic of Variety, compares part of the story to “What follows may as well be a high-end, period-themed upgrade to the popular Pokémon GO iPhone game, as Scamander plays a freckle-faced, tweed-jacketed version of Ash Ketchum, scrambling to track down and recapture the escaped creatures before things get really out of hand.” Though it sounds as if he didn’t enjoy it he gave the movie an overall good review.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them is a fun, magic filled movie whose compelling plot and elements of comic relief keep your interest for the entirety of the movie. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, then I highly recommend Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
