Discover YA Novel “Girl From Nowhere”
“Ninety-four countries. Thirty-one schools. Two bullets. Now it’s over…or so she thinks.” This synopsis is a great description of Tiffany Rosenhan’s “Girl From Nowhere,” a book about a sixteen-year-old girl named Sophia and her experience from constantly moving and running from danger to settling in a small town in Montana. For eighteen months she was forced to constantly be on the move, always looking over her shoulder. Now her parents tell her that it is over, that she is safe. She says she believes them, but is she lying? Or are her parents?
The book isn’t in a different reality, but our own. There are places and names you will recognize. Rosenhan has created an amazing contrast between normal teenage life and the life of danger Sophia’s parents have raised her in. Readers are able to easily connect to the characters. You will feel like you can’t stop reading, you just need to figure out the mystery.
This is an amazing spy thriller, and anyone who enjoys the “Bourne” film franchise but wants to see a female in the role will love it. The book is similar to “A Secret Service” by Joy Jenkins and “Not if I Save you First” by Ally Carter. The author pays attention to the small details and brings them up later. There are so many twists and turns, so many secrets, and great character development. As soon as you think you know what is going to happen, it changes completely. It has a balance of suspense and action as well as calm moments that give the reader a break from the tension.
I’ve read many young adult books, and this one is definitely one of the best I’ve read in a while. It is different from a lot of other books in the same genre. I connected to the characters in this book very quickly, and I didn’t want it to end. Tiffany Rosenhan has created a beautiful world with amazing characters and details. She shows a lot of background knowledge in her writing and it adds so much to the story. Go read “Girl From Nowhere” and look out for a possible visit from Tiffany Rosenhan!
