Watching a movie is one of my favorite things to do during this gloomy season, and what better to watch than a movie that will fill you with Halloween spirit.

Horror may be your cup of tea when thinking about watching a Halloween Movie, but consider these family friendly halloween movies that I think are just as enjoyable.

A widely popular and very enjoyable halloween movie that has been taking over the holiday since it was released in 1993; Hocus Pocus. Hocus Pocus, is a movie about a trio of villainous witches who are resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem Massachusetts, on Halloween night. During the original release of the film, it received many mixed reviews but was initially a box-office bomb. Hocus Pocus is a delightful family-friendly film that won’t leave anyone feeling scared at bedtime. 

Get ready to scream and cheer, because horror movies are like a thrilling roller coaster ride—full of unexpected twists, heart-pounding moments, and just the right amount of fright to keep you on the edge of your seat! I bet you know someone who enjoys horror movies maybe a little too much, well I do too. Talking to my friend Zach today I asked him about his love for all things horror and he had so much to say. 

“Horror is not just about slasher or gore, but it’s about downright scaring you to your core. Making you stay up at night wondering if there really is something looking at you.” 

He continued to talk about the psychological feeling that horror gives, the somewhat adrenaline feeling. I asked him about some of his favorite horror movies and this is what he had to say. “ If I had to choose one horror movie overall as like the “best” I would probably pick The Silence of the Lambs.” 

The Silence of the Lambs, a chilling horror movie, hit the theatres in 1991. It is one of the most popular horror movies of all time, originally grossing $272.7 million dollars worldwide on a $19 million dollar budget. It became the fifth highest grossing film of the year. The movie has a chilling plot, A young F.B.I. cadet must receive the help of an incarcerated and manipulative cannibal killer to help catch another serial killer, a madman who skins his victims.
