Girls Basketball

On November 9th, 2015 the Bingham Girls Basketball season started with weeklong try-outs.  The coaches, Charron Mason, Marc Jensen, Justine Bates, Brooke Blonquist, and Kenyon Strang, have now picked a team and have started holding team practices for 2-2 ½ hours a day for six days a week.  The team had their first pre-season game on November 24th, 2015 against East High School, which they won.  The official season begins in a game against Taylorsville High School. During Winter Break the team will be traveling to San Diego to participate in the Southern California Prep Classic Tournament.  With a packed schedule the girls are already excited for the competition.

The girls have been setting goals for the team before the season started; including making it to the state play-offs in February and winning the state title for Girls Basketball.  One of the team’s captains, Madi Loftus, said, “If we all come together and learn how to work together, we could have the opportunity to go far this season.  We have to keep working hard and stay focused on our goals.”  Hard workouts in their fourth period before the season started have allowed many of the team members to set their individual goals, as well as team goals.

Madi Loftus, Shea Rasmussen, and Sierra McNicol were voted the team captains for the 2015-2016 season.  They have led their team to one win already and are prepared for more wins to come as they play other teams.  Sierra McNicol said, “This season we have a lot of talent and potential to go far, it just depends on how hard we are willing to work and how often we do the ‘little things’.   It’s been fun so far.” The team typically has two games a week, every Tuesday and Thursday. Bingham’s Girls Basketball team is a strong team and they will go far if they work hard for what they want.
