The music scene in Utah is rich with diversity; concerts of all genres are plentiful and a favorite occasion of many Utahns.

Utah is rich in events for pop music. Shawn Mendes released a highly anticipated concert date for his 2018 self-titled album. Mendes’ conveniently named tour, The Tour, makes a stop in Utah on July 16, 2019. Another highly awaited event is the Salt Lake stop of Ariana Grande’s Sweetener World Tour on April 22, 2019. P!NK is to perform on April 3, 2019 to promote her 2017 album Beautiful Trauma. Kelly Clarkson’s Meaning Of Life Tour will arrive on Jan. 30, 2019. The Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande, P!NK, and Kelly Clarkson shows are set at the 18,300 capacity Vivint Smart Home Arena. James Bay, widely known for his Billboard Hot-100 charting song “Let It Go”, is playing at the Union Event Center on March 23, 2019. The on-the-rise dance-pop group Why Don’t We announced a show at the UCCU Center in Orem on March 26, 2019. On his A Legendary Christmas tour, John Legend will also be playing at the Abravanel Hall on Dec. 16, 2018.

Tired of mainstream music? Many artists of the alternative genre are preparing to perform in Utah as well. Radiohead’s lead singer and songwriter Thom Yorke will be playing the Union Event Center on Dec. 13, 2018. Canadian rock band Three Days Grace recently announced their North American winter tour, and will perform at the Vivint Smart Home arena on Jan. 19, 2019. Ministry, an industrial metal band known for its aggressive and political stance on the state of the world, is expected to perform at The Depot on Nov. 23, 2018. English indie band The 1975 are coming to Orem’s UCCU Center on April 29, 2019 while on their 2019 North American Tour. Classic artists are making tour stops here as well: Elton John at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Sept. 4, 2019 and The Beach Boys at Eccles Theater on Dec. 27, 2018.

Classical music could be considered Utah’s forte, given that many renowned musical groups of that genre reside here. Abravanel Hall is a host to many symphonic events. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is going to be conducted on Nov. 29 and 30 and Dec. 1. The Utah Symphony and Utah Opera performs on many occasions throughout its 2018-2019 season. Croatian cellist duo 2CELLOS are also set to play at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Feb. 13. Although the band performs with classical instruments, their music bleeds into many different genres such as rock, heavy metal, and pop. Electric violinist Lindsey Stirling will make a stop in West Valley City on Nov. 26 at the Maverik Center. Andrea Bocelli, an Italian singer who Celine Dion claims has the voice of God, is anticipated at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Nov. 29.

Bingham junior Jessica Gilchrist is a fanatic of “anything but country” music, and is looking forward to a few concerts mentioned before. She’s planning on seeing James Bay, The 1975, and, of course, Shawn Mendes.

Bandsintown, a live event service familiar to frequent concert-goers, offers information—ticket sales, RSVP for shows, and music discovery—about concerts at whatever location. According to the site, the most popular upcoming shows are Shawn Mendes, Metallica, Ariana Grande, P!NK, Goo Goo Dolls, The 1975, and James Bay. Although some of these shows have distant dates, they are at risk of selling out. Secure your tickets as soon as you can through StubHub, Vivid Seats, Ticketmaster, Smith’s Tix, or other services.
