Worst Day of the Week

Holly Whister, Staff Writer

It seems that there is a reason to hate or love every day of the week. Monday is the beginning of the school week, Wednesday is only the halfway point, and on Thursday Friday seems so close you can almost touch it. Most students would agree that Monday is the worst day of the week; school starts again and you have four more days to get through before the weekend comes, and you have to wake up early for the first time in two days. All the homework that will be waiting for you or the practices you’ll have if you’re on a sports team. You spend the entire day walking around like a zombie and wishing you could just fast forward through the rest of the week.

However, there is one day that is worse than Monday: Tuesday. It’s awful to wake up on a Monday morning and realize that you have to go to school, but at least you’ve had a couple days to rest and you have a small amount of reserved energy from the weekend. Besides, you get the chance to see your friends again and talk about what you did over the weekend. On Tuesday, you’ve already heard about all your friends’ weekend activities, and the little energy you had reserved was used to make it through Monday. It’s difficult to wake up on a Monday morning because your body got used to sleeping in, but Tuesday is even worse due to losing sleep the night before and still being forced to get up early that morning. Even when you try to focus in school, all you can seem to think about is your wonderful bed and soft pillow, but you realize you’ll have to do homework before you can finally sleep again.

Tuesday also seems to be the most boring day of the week. At least on Monday you get to do something different than what you’ve been doing for the past two days, even if that activity is going to school. Wednesday can be a day to look forward to because it’s the halfway point and Thursday is special because it’s almost Friday, but there is nothing to look forward to on a Tuesday. Tuesday seems to be the day that everyone endures instead of looking forward to, if you even remember it exists.

Whether you think the worst day of the week is Monday, Tuesday, or even Friday every day is what you make of it. There is always a reason to look forward to each day, even if it’s as small as the fact that you get to see your friends that day. Even if you can’t think of a reason to be happy that day, you can always make a reason. Plan to hang out with friends, go out for lunch, rent a movie, or whatever it is that makes you happy. No matter what day of the week it is, it can always be the best or the worst day depending on how you decide to look at it.
