This weeks Athlete Spotlight is not just One but Two of Bingham Girls Tennis Players. I had the opportunity too Interview both of them and this is what the had to say.
First is Emaline Roberts;
Emaline has been playing tennis her whole life but once she started playing on the High School Team, thats when she decided to take it more seriously. Her proudest achievement was making Varsity and getting to play on the team and her goal is just to have while playing. She balances school and social life with sports by managing her time, and knowing what she wants to prioritize.
Playing tennis has taught her how to be resilient and work hard for something that you want. The challenge she faced while playing tennis was becoming strongly mental because its an individual sport. Emaline’s parents are her biggest supporters. The thing she enjoys the most about playing tennis is building a relationship that will last a while with the team.
Next is Reagan Littlewood;
Reagan started playing tennis her freshman year of high school. Her goal was to win as many matches possible to get a good spot at state championships. Reagan says that you need to be willing to sacrifice doing fun things so you can balance your focus on school and sports.
Playing tennis has taught her how to mentally stay in matches and stay positive. Also just learning to love the sport. She’s able to overcome her challenges by bouncing back and being resilient. Her parents have been her biggest supporter. Her favorite memory would have to be playing at state with her team and all the support and feeling accomplished.
Training:
Practice is Monday-Friday. To help them train they practice serves and play matches against each other.
They stated that there was a slight chance they will play tennis after high school but only time will tell.
Lastly for those interested in playing tennis there advice is that tennis is a supper fun sport, and to pursue what you love. But to also learn to be Resilient.
Congratulations Emaline and Reagan for being Bingham’s Athlete Spotlights.
