Girls’ golf is in full swing! Brett Boberg, the girls’ golf coach is proud of how the team is doing this season. “The team is overperforming this year. They’re doing very well,” stated Coach Boberg. The season started in early March. They have had a tough season, schedule-wise, as three of their tournaments have been canceled or postponed due to weather.

In spite of these challenges, the team has still been able to compete. At their St. George tournament, they placed second out of three schools. The team lost overall to Desert Hills High School with their final scores being 362 to 371. However, Abbie Koch tied for first place. Koch is the team captain this season and is one of the top-performing players. She is ranked sixth in the region and is averaging 82 strokes per round. As for their JV team this tournament, Charley Utley placed first with a 46 for nine holes. They are having their last tournament on May 9 and 10.

The girls are expected to do better this season than last year. Last year, they didn’t make it to state and they considered it to be their “rebuilding year.” Coach Boberg explained that this year’s team is the hardest working team he’s had in his coaching career. At their Glenmoor tournament, they beat Riverton by one stroke and Coach Boberg explained that it was a very dramatic win since Riverton is ahead of Bingham overall this season. Bingham is currently in third place, behind Herriman High School and Riverton High School.
