I Am Grateful For: Autumn
Autumn is the time of year where we can turn over a new leave and be thankful for the chance we have to live in such a beautiful world with color painted on the trees and seasons that bring joy to our lives. Jim Bishop said, “Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.” Don’t be caught only having gratitude for autumn on Thanksgiving. Find the little things to be grateful for.
Autumn paints in colors that summer has never seen. Although the weather changes to prepare for winter there are numerous benefits of fall over the rest of the seasons. For example, the mixture of the cool crisp air and the warm sun pleases both those who like hot and cold weather. To accommodate for the colder weather people dress warmer in their favorite jackets, sweaters, scarves, and boots. Along with the crisp air comes the crisp colorful leaves that can bring hours of fun.
Halloween sits in the middle of the fall season. We celebrate by going trick or treating and wearing costumes. Many enjoy telling ghost stories and spending nights out with friends by going to corn mazes, hayrides, and frightmares. It’s fun to dress up every once in a while so why not take advantage to bring our child tendencies back without seeming weird. Halloween in autumn give you the opportunity to spend time with your family and friends in a new that doesn’t happen any other time of the year.
Families gather for turkey, cranberry sauce, and more feasting. A wonderful tradition is watching the Macy’s Day Parade with incredible floats and huge balloons in the morning and football in the afternoon. Thanksgiving is a holiday that is often taken for granted instead of being using it as a time to really give thanks for the things you have. Oprah Winfrey said, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never have enough.”
The best apples come into season around this time of year. There are lots of ways that we incorporate apples into our festivities of fall. Bobbing for apples is a great activity for Halloween parties. Apple pie is popular because it can be used for Thanksgiving and any other day that you might want pie! Apples can be used in sweet apple cider or dipping them in caramel.
Pumpkins are one of many beautiful things associated with fall. There are so many uses of pumpkins. People enjoy going to pumpkin patches with their families and picking out their perfect pumpkin. Once you take the pumpkin home the fun begins. Carving pumpkins is fun for all ages. Other great uses of pumpkin that we eat may include homemade pie and pumpkin bread. Pumpkin spice is a loved scent that people usually associate with this wonderful season.
